New Cd Front: Second Draft

I like this design much now, and having shown my peers they say it is "A massive step forward," I will continue to edit this.

CD Cover Option

I had done this draft a while ago and well problems arose, I have found it again. I like this design. more than the other one, it actually looks different than the previous project. I will add the logo to see what occurs when that is added.

Update:

Things appeared to be going wrong for the past two weeks but now, improvement has started. My filming has been done and a rough cut of the music video exists on a friends Apple Mac, the storyboard however has changed rather a lot so I will have to redo another storyboard.

To Do List:
Redo storyboard
Post rough cut of music video
Redo cd cover, cd back and poster

New First Draft

This is my brand new first draft from research I realised that rock album covers do not generally have people on the cover. They do however have a logo so in response I have redesigned my CD Cover, This will also mean I have to redesign my CD back and my poster again, or alter the colour scheme.

Logo

While testing out designs for my front cover I have realised that many rock albums rarely use themselves on the cover. Most covers simply have the band logo on the cover, therefore with this in mind I have designed a log comprized of two F's back to back with a glow around it. I think it looks very effective, it is also a vector image so I can resize and if the worst occurs and I lose data then it is straight forward to make another.

Urgent

I have realised that project looks simply like a expansion of my last media project, I am going to have to change the colour scheme due to this being a different project, big opps on my part there. Filming is set to take place this weekend all being well, it is a busy week this week indeed.

CD Back: Third Draft

This is my Cd Back as can be seen much has changed, I have added some legal infomation at the bottom which covers legal problems. I have also used my research from Motorhead album and placed the band members name a feature to introduce new listeners to the band it also looks effective and adds colour.

CD Cover: Fifth Draft

This is my fifth draft, I have edited the circle now so that Tom and Lee are more higher up, I will still replace the image soon, in good time once I have conducted the filming. Once I have taken the video I will be able to finalise the products.

CD Cover: Fourth Draft

Not much of a difference but I have changed the colour to the same as the back, I have also added a different back to the photo so it shows synergy as a set.

Music Poster: Third Draft

This third draft is mainly removing the black box where all the tour locations will be, I have also added two little bumps at the bottom to fill in space and they go with theme. Next I will add the new photo and see what it looks like with the back drop and if nessercery change the colour scheme.

Cd Cover: Third Draft

I didnt like the orignal half donut, it took up too much room. I also thought the colour scheme was a little too dark, so I have brightened it up a little bit, although Im still not sure if it is right, it matchs more the style of poster.

CD Back: Second Draft

This is my second draft, I have looked at my inspiration and used the Paul Stanley back to place a section solely for the legal information and bar code etc. I will however have to get the ratio's right to circle size and head, since Tom's head is far to big in the circle, I need to get it like Lee looks in his circle. I realise blatently ripped of the Motorhead album but it is effective.

CD Back: First Draft

This is my first draft of the cd rear cover, this shall keep the synergy between products high since this is going appear on the same place as the cd front, and so it will look like a set when placed with the poster. Obviously this being my first draft I will add and improve the product with great intension, again I will note that the image is not final as I will be shooting new ones soon.

CD Back Layout: Results

Left Side: 4

Right Side: 10

As is clearly shown, having the track list on the right is what more of my peers believe is better for me. Here is what several of my peers thought.

Jazz: On the right you have a more room, plus you could put something faded behind it.

Mike: After looking through your research if you have it on the right, you can probably do something similar to the Paul Stanley back with a picture behind them.

Ryan: If you have the text on the right, it looks more like what would be on a metal album, unconventional.

CD Back: Layout Analysis

These are my ideas for layouts, mainly the position of the track list on the back. With the track list on the left, I have space to work with on the right, however due to limitations I have had to sacrifice space on the right for the ability to read the text which I believe more important.
This is the same text except to the right, it gives me slightly more room on the left hand side but I sacrifice the unity and evenness of the left sided back. This breaks conventions, usually the track list is on the left or in the centre, I didnt go for a centre since my tracks have very long names so I wouldnt have any room for any pictures to give character to the back of the cover.

I will ask my peers, which one they believe to be the best for my product.
